چکیده

Asimov’s first law states: A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. The increasing capabilities or AR now allow changing reality insofar that the reality may be perceived differently. Situations can be hidden or changed in appearance. This raises the question whether computer systems and AR may have the right to alter the reality and – if so – under which circumstances. Some examples are discussed to illustrate the spectrum of application and to build a foundation for further investigation now incorporating aspects of morality.

The Augmented Round Table - a New Interface to Urban Planning and Architectural Design

The Augmented Round Table provides a collaborative interactive AR environment, where users can interact naturally and intuitively. They may create and manipulate complex 3D geometry naturally by using wands, gestures and real world placeholder items as tangible interfaces.

AR Pueblo Board Game

This paper considers a new tangible interface for vision-based Augmented Reality (AR) systems. Tangible AR interfaces provide users seamless interaction with virtual objects in AR systems but with the restriction of user’s motions. A new tangible AR interface is designed to overcome this limitation. Two hexahedral objects are attached together to create the new tangible AR interface. The shape ...

Ethical Considerations in Augmented Reality Applications

Augmented reality (AR) is a powerful technology that has a direct effect on the end user experience. AR is a persuasive technology that is already having direct impact on the end user, all the while collecting information about them and their actions. AR is currently being used to advise, inform, track, manipulate, entertain and persuade the end user while collecting and utilizing their data. T...

Air-Jet Button Effects in AR

Providing haptic cues can generate increased levels of presence in users as they interact with tangible objects. In this paper, we present button effects delivered by air-jet displays with the aim of providing click-like sensations when virtual buttons in an AR environment are pressed. We derive the profile of the haptic output by measuring the force profile of real physical buttons. To validat...

Virtual object manipulation on a table-top AR environment

In this paper we address the problems of virtual object interaction and user tracking in a table-top Augmented Reality (AR) interface. In this setting there is a need for very accurate tracking and registration techniques and an intuitive and useful interface. This is especially true in AR interfaces for supporting face to face collaboration where users need to be able to easily cooperate with ...
